Graduate Engineer, Water Resources

About the role

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Graduate Engineer, Water Resources (AKA: Civil Engineer Intern I) to join our team in Baton Rouge, LA.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical, day-to-day design support to the Project Engineer, including drafting support for plan production activities
• Performs hydrologic and hydraulic design calculations (H&H)
• Affords assistance in developing 2D and 1D hydraulic/hydrologic models (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM)
• Prepares drawings and visual aids
• Supports flood risk assessments, drainage studies, master plans, and concept-level flood mitigation evaluations
• Follows internal QA/QC procedures, engineering standards, and best practices
• Observes construction activities and works to develop an understanding of construction methods and the translation of engineering drawings and specifications into the constructed product
• Works to learn the fundamentals of engineering processes and to apply them successfully to operating systems
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering, or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months
• Engineer-in-Training Certificate, or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months
