Graduate Assistant - Women’s Flag Football

About the Role

The Graduate Assistant position works under the supervision of the Head Coach of Women’s Flag Football, assisting in the comprehensive day-to-day operations of the Women’s Flag Football program. Candidates must excel in communication, punctuality, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Irregular work hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings, are to be expected.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting efforts by evaluating prospective student-athletes, attending recruiting events, and building relationships with recruits.
• Assist in coaching flag football athletes, focusing on improving their technique, form, and mental preparation.
• Assist the head coach in executing game strategies during practices and flag football matches.
• Assist with scheduling, planning travel itineraries, and gameday preparations.
• Perform any other job-related duties assigned by the Head Coach and Assistant Coaches.

Requirements

• Must be admitted and enrolled in a graduate program at Avila University (international students are not eligible for graduate assistantships).
• Undergraduate degree and admission to a Master’s program at Avila University.
• Experience in collegiate football preferred.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment that prioritizes academic success and personal growth.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to attend meetings, practices, and other scheduled events, and travel as required.
• Demonstrated experience contributing to a climate that supports a diverse student body, serves first-generation college students, multilingual learners, and advances equity and social justice.
