About the role

The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work as a collaborative member of the Women’s Softball team to carry out the goals and objectives of the Athletics department. The GA will function as an Assistant Coach for Women’s Softball and learn how to coach, build and develop a successful softball team. This position will assist in the coordination of practice and game day preparation; and have the opportunity to assist with and learn scouting techniques for assessing the opposition, scouting and evaluating prospective student-athletes, compiling scouting reports, and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Work as an Assistant Coach for Women’s Softball
  • Assist in the coordination of practice and game day preparation
  • Avoid and evaluate prospective student-athletes
  • Compile scouting reports
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks, including but not limited to social media management, travel, equipment management, etc.

Requirements

  • Current or prospective graduate student at Mount Aloysius College
  • Enrolled in one of the College’s Master’s degree programs
  • Strong record of academic achievement as an undergraduate student with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as satisfactory undergraduate student conduct record
  • Maintain confidentiality, prioritize tasks, and remain self-motivated
  • Collegiate softball (playing) experience preferred; some coaching experience also preferred
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, student athletes/players, and recruits
  • Lead small groups within a team setting
  • Demonstrated familiarity with current social media platforms and effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division III and AMCC rules/regulations
  • Willing and available to travel and work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and some holidays

Benefits

  • 100% tuition credit for full-time enrolled students up to eighteen (18) credits for the 26-27 academic year (typically 9 credits per semester)
  • A modest stipend is awarded for hours worked, and is paid on an hourly rate basis

Pay

  • Hourly rate based on the number of hours worked

Schedule

  • Average of 20 hours per week to their assigned duties during the semester for a total of 300 hours per semester
