Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small group assistance with résumés, cover letters, job and internship searches, and basic interview preparation.
- Support students in using career tools and platforms (e.g., Handshake, LinkedIn, career assessments).
- Offer walk-in and scheduled appointment support under the supervision of professional staff.
- Refer students to professional staff for advanced or specialized career counseling as needed.
- Co-facilitate or lead workshops on topics such as résumé writing, interview skills, networking, and career exploration.
- Affiliate with planning, coordination, and logistics for career fairs, employer panels, information sessions, and other events.
- Assist with scheduling employer information sessions, tabling events, and on-campus/virtual interviews.
- Greet and support employer representatives during visits and career events.
- Help maintain employer records and contact information in the career management system.
- Collaborate with academic departments, student organizations, and other campus offices to promote career programming.
- Aid in monitoring and responding to the career services email inbox and phone inquiries.
- Maintain accurate student appointment records and notes in the career management system, adhering to confidentiality guidelines.
- Support data collection and reporting related to appointments, events, and student outcomes.
- Aid in surveys, feedback forms, and basic assessment projects to improve services.
- Create and distribute promotional materials (flyers, digital signage, emails, social media content) to advertise services and events.
- Contribute ideas and content for career services social media channels and newsletters.
- Conduct short classroom or organization announcements to increase awareness of career services.
- Attend staff meetings, training, and professional development sessions as required.
- Participate in special projects aligned with office priorities and the intern’s professional interests.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program at FSU.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications (Microsoft Office or Google Workspace).

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in student services, advising, mentoring, customer service, or related roles.
- Familiarity with career development topics (résumés, interviews, job search strategies, networking).
- Experience with career platforms such as Handshake, LinkedIn, or similar tools.
- Interest in a career in higher education, student affairs, career services, counseling, or human resources.
