Graduate Architect
The Team
The Design and Compliance team works across the Council's entire building estate, delivering a diverse range of projects – from small-scale community facilities such as public conveniences, through to some of the city's most significant and historic buildings, including City Hall. A major focus of our current programme is within Education, where we deliver projects for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
About the role
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Architect to join its busy Design and Compliance team. This role is ideal for a Part 2-qualified architect looking to gain high-quality professional experience while working on projects that have real social value.
Responsibilities
- Assist in delivering architectural services from feasibility through to completion
- Support the development of design proposals, technical drawings and specifications
- Prepare regulatory applications and tender documentation
- Work with consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders as part of multi-disciplinary teams
- Attend site inspections, design team meetings and client meetings
- Develop your understanding of procurement, contract administration and project management
- Build professional competence while working towards RIBA Part 3 Progression
Requirements
We are seeking a Graduate Architect to join its Built Environment team and play a key role in the delivery of high-quality building projects across the district. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to work on a diverse portfolio of projects, providing technical design expertise and project delivery support from feasibility through to completion.
Qualifications
- A recognised undergraduate and postgraduate qualification in Architecture (RIBA Part 1 and Part 2 / ARB-prescribed)
- Some relevant construction or architectural practice experience
- A good understanding of construction principles and design coordination
- Strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills
- A commitment to professional development and achieving Part 3 qualification
