About the Role

Ensures only quality product remains on the line and piece counts meet customer specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Visually grade product being dropped onto the line.
  • Ensure only quality products remain on the line.
  • Remove defective product off the line and place it into identified defect groups.
  • Ensure the product meets customer requirements such as quality, weight, or count.
  • Participate as a member of the Team, including:
    • Engaging in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
    • Coordinating work to ensure best practices with all team members.
    • Attending appropriate team meetings.
    • Fostering strong cohesiveness regarding major issues (e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes).
    • Identifying areas lacking cohesiveness, bringing them to the team leader’s attention, and working to resolve issues.
    • Actively reinforcing actions needed to achieve synergy within the larger organization.
  • Support Simmons Operating Systems principles and objectives by:
    • Maintaining familiarity with established systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies).
    • Understanding the responsibility to support these systems and the impact of individual actions.
    • Communicating concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.

Physical Activities

  • Occasional twisting at the neck and waist.
  • Constant standing, bending at the neck and waist, simple grasping with the hands, fine manipulation/feeling with the hands, reaching at shoulder level.
  • Repetitive motion of the shoulders, arms, and hands.
  • Use of vision, light lifting/carrying (ability to lift up to 10 lbs as required).
  • Work inside a production line environment with loud equipment/machines; walking around drains, footbaths, and hoses in a wet environment.

  • Waterproof footwear

Requirements

  • Basic math skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and decision quality; ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and the leadership team.
