About the Role

Responsible for properly grading board as designated by the QC Department. Uses forklift to stack, tier, and move equipment and material in the warehouse. Packages finished units, tends bundling machine that ties and labels bundles of finished product. This facility operates on a rotating schedule/shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently demonstrate safety as the highest priority and perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Ensure product meets specified grade standards per QC manual.
  • Oversee proper operation of the grader, stacker, and strapper areas.
  • Transport units from each workstation to facilitate orderly and efficient flow of product through the finishing end process.
  • Calculate unit density and accurately document all statistics.
  • Clean and perform routine maintenance on equipment associated with the position.
  • Identify substandard product and contact Finishing Lead, QC Technician, or Shift Supervisor immediately for corrective action.
  • Maintain adequate supply of stickers, cardboard, and banding necessary to package finished units.
  • During downtime and product changes, assist operator in adjusting arbor, profilers, guides, fan coaters, etc.
  • Regrade boards when necessary and ensure all stacks of material requiring regrade are marked appropriately.
  • Aid when needed in the Finishing Department for proper edge sealant and packaging of finished units.
  • Be familiar with Safety and Environmental Management System for this position.
  • Understand and adhere to all environmental policies and procedures, including spill response, general waste, paint waste, and baghouse operation procedures.
  • Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Possess knowledge, demonstrate competency in, and obey all applicable company, state, and federal safety policies, standards, and regulations.
  • Ability and desire to follow all safety rules, policies, and standards while constantly demonstrating safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of lumber grade standards.
  • Knowledge of line position duties and functions.
  • Ability to use grading tools, hand banders, forklift, and computer.
  • Good math, communication, organizational, and mechanical skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret written grades and standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
