Grade 2 Long Term Substitutes

About the role

The position is for a full-time Grade 2 teacher at Killingly Memorial School, starting in October 2026 through January 2027.

Responsibilities

• Teach Grade 2 curriculum aligned with state standards.
• Instruct students in reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, and other subjects.
• Develop lesson plans and assessments based on student needs and educational goals.
• Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement effective teaching strategies.
• Maintain classroom management and ensure a safe learning environment.
• Assist students with individualized education plans (IEPs).

Requirements

• Current Connecticut certification (305).
• Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
• At least two years of successful teaching experience at the elementary level.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.

• Experience working with diverse student populations.
• Knowledge of current educational theories and practices.
• Effective use of technology in the classroom.
• Passion for teaching and a commitment to student success.

Skills

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
