About The Position

This is a .4 FTE non-continuing leave replacement position for a Grade 1 Dual Language (English/Spanish) Teacher at College Place Elementary for the 2026-27 school year ONLY. The position requires a Washington State Teaching Certificate with a Spanish Bilingual Education endorsement or Spanish ACTFL assessment, or the ability to obtain the needed qualifications prior to the position start date.

Essential Duties

  • Instructs students using strategies conducive to dual-language immersion, such as sheltered instruction and cooperative learning.
  • Collaborates in a professional learning community with other teachers, support staff, and others as appropriate, in addressing the needs of students, developing effective teaching and learning practices in Spanish and English.
  • Conducts planning for lessons using commonly accepted professional dual language immersion practices (content, goals, assessment, re-teaching, etc.) and consistent with school/district approved curriculum and instructional practice.
  • Uses research-based instructional strategies in planning lessons to make the teaching and learning more relevant to students (e.g., contextual learning opportunities).
  • Utilizes differentiated and sheltered content instructional strategies, and/or English language development strategies to instruct students with varying levels of English language proficiency.
  • Communicates positively and regularly with monolingual English/Spanish and limited English speaking parents and/or legal guardians in the areas of growth, student progress, and teacher expectations; develop meaningful collaboration between home and school.
  • Participates in professional learning opportunities in support of District-wide mission, vision and goals.
  • Demonstrates an awareness of and sensitivity to multicultural and multilingual values and environments.

Required Qualifications

  • A Washington State Teaching Certificate with endorsements in either Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education in addition to a Spanish Bilingual Education endorsement or Spanish ACTFL assessment, or the ability to obtain the needed qualifications prior to the position start date.

Physical Requirements/Demands

  • Navigating various school and classroom environments
