About the role

We are seeking a Graduate Pharmacy Intern to join our team at CVS Health. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice, while gaining valuable experience and developing your skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice
• Complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation
• Support pharmacy teams to ensure smooth operations, prompt prescription filling, and accurate dispensing
• Provide empathetic and caring service to patients, including offering vaccinations and other services
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating compassion and resolving or escalating patient issues
• Operate as part of the pharmacy team, adhering to standard operating procedures and best practices
• Contribute to a high-performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge
• Support immunizations, including preparing and administering vaccines, educating patients, and monitoring adverse reactions
• Comply with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical principles, and follow CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety

Requirements

• PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
• Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines
• Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
• Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
• Attention and focus: ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time, pivot quickly from one task to another, and confirm prescription information and label accuracy
• Customer service and team orientation: actively look for ways to help people, communicate effectively, and respond appropriately to patients and colleagues
• Mathematical reasoning: ability to use math to solve problems, such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense
• Problem resolution: identify and choose the best course of action when faced with challenging patient or colleague interactions
• Physical demands: be mobile and remain upright for extended periods of time, lift, scan, and bag items, reach overhead, stretch or reach out with the body, arms, and/or legs to grasp items, move fingers repetitively, pick, pinch, type, or otherwise work primarily with fingers, extend hand(s) and arm(s) multiple directions to place, move, or lift items, control precision, quickly adjust machines to exact positions, stoop to a considerable degree, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles to move items between low and high positions, including bending spine at the waist, close visual acuity to perform activities such as: transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading, visual inspection involving small parts, occasionally lift of up to 20 lbs and/or exert up to 20 lbs. of force, frequently lift of up to 10 lbs and/or exert up to 10 lbs. of force, consistently lift and/or exert a negligible amount of force to move objects, express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed accurately, have the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication

Qualifications

• PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
• Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines
• Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
• Ability to work in home store, and across the market in other locations, to meet business needs
• 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
• Ability to become immunization certified once state regulations are met
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
