About the role
We are looking for a Graduate Pharmacy Intern to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in a retail pharmacy setting, applying your didactic learning from pharmacy school to real-world practice.
Responsibilities
- Apply didactic learning from pharmacy school to real-world practice
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation
- Support pharmacy teams to ensure smooth operations, prompt prescription filling, and accurate dispensing
- Provide empathetic and caring service to patients, including offering vaccinations and other services
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating compassion and resolving or escalating patient problems
- Operate as part of the pharmacy team, adhering to standard operating procedures and best practices
- Participate in inventory activities and other administrative tasks as permitted by law
- Support immunizations, including preparing and administering vaccines, educating patients, and monitoring adverse reactions
- Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a high-performing, inclusive team environment
- Comply with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical principles to ensure patient safety and privacy
- Support additional patient health care services as allowed by law and required by training and certification
Requirements
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to starting the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
- Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Attention and focus: Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time, pivot quickly between tasks, and confirm prescription information and label accuracy
- Customer service and team orientation: Actively look for ways to help people, communicate effectively, and respond appropriately to patients and colleagues
- Mathematical reasoning: Ability to use math to solve problems, such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense
- Problem resolution: Identify and choose the best course of action when faced with challenging patient or colleague interactions
- Physical demands: Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods, lift, scan, and bag items, reach overhead, stretch, and move fingers repetitively
Qualifications
- Ability to work in home store and across the market to meet business needs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
