Gr Veneer Offbearer-Trainee 1
Report to: Shift Supervisor • Full-time • Swing shift, nine-hour shifts may start on Day Shifts
About the role
Grading veneer is fast, difficult work which requires pulling, sorting, and stacking green (wet) sheets of veneer according to quality for later use in the plywood and engineered wood manufacturing process.
Responsibilities
- Pull, sort and stack veneer by quality (grade) and place the different grades into carts
- Stack wood precisely as it will be transported to other departments
- Take direction, listen, learn and work well with others
Physical Demands
- Standing continuously, reaching, lifting, pulling, twisting, turning, sorting and stacking
- Withstand constant repetitive motion of shoulders, arms, hands, and fingers
- Job is very fast paced; sheets come back-to-back on the conveyor requiring quick decisions about which sheets to pull into different carts by quality
- Requires quick reflexes and the ability to tolerate great physical demands
- Sheets may weigh up to 40 pounds
Requirements
- Able to work under limited supervision
- Competence in basic technology to operate machinery and tools
- Ability to follow instructions
- Self-starter / motivated individual
- Strong and positive communication in both verbal and written forms
- Safety-minded
- Able to multi-task

Pay
Wage Range: $21.54 + Shift Differential
