GPU Compiler Lead
About the role
We’re looking for highly experienced GPU Compiler Lead. You will lead the design, development, implementation, and toolchain of a high-performance compiler stack for our proprietary RISC-V GPU architecture. You’ll be responsible for the GPU execution environment and transforming shader IR code into highly optimized machine code.
What you'll do
- Lead the development of the LLVM-based compiler backend for a RISC-V vector execution environment transforming shader IR code into highly optimized machine code
- Lead the development of the GPU execution environment
- Lead an internal team of compiler engineers and coordinate with partners and external contributors
- Design optimization passes for parallel vector workloads and proprietary intrinsics
- Collaborate with hardware architects to optimize performance and efficiency
- Coincordinate with the GPU Driver team to communicate with the host through PCIe or on-board shared memory
- Develop host-side GPU emulation and evaluation environments
- Develop a toolchain for development, optimization, and debugging
Qualifications
- 8+ years industry experience with GPU compilers
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Deep understanding of GPU architectures and toolchains
- Deep understanding of parallel programming languages for GPUs
- Deep understanding of compiler operation
- Deep understanding of computer architecture and microarchitecture, including memory hierarchy, instruction flow, vectorization, and other modern processors
- Strong proficiency with C++ and assembly
- Experience with code analysis, IR (LLVM, MLIR, ISPC), and LLVM and GCC internals
- Demonstrated ability to ship high-quality production software
- Experience with technical leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding and experience with RISC-V and vector processors
- Experience implementing an RTOS environment
- Experience with PCIe bus communications
- Experience co-designing hardware architectures
- Understanding of path and ray tracing
Compensation Range
$175,000–$250,000 per year (California). This range represents the anticipated base pay for this role; the final offer may vary based on qualifications, experience, and location.
