Brief Description

This is a temporary part-time / full-time position to complete utility pipeline project(s) as part of a larger team. The position is currently needed and is anticipated to continue throughout the 2026 calendar year.

About the Role

  • Work in the field for 8+ hours per day if needed by the client and be outdoors during all weather conditions.
  • Walk or stand for the majority of the workday.
  • Will be trained in the proper use of GNSS / GIS technology and equipment.
  • Perform work safely and in compliance with all safety procedures and regulations.
  • Interact and effectively communicate with the SCE team and Client.
  • Show a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must be able to learn and demonstrate familiarity with natural gas utilities and general construction activities.
  • Arrive at work on time every day in a professional manner in both attire and attitude.
  • Overtime and/or weekend work may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Report to Regional Field Supervisor.
  • Locate all applicable natural gas assets throughout the construction day and within the constraints of the project limits.
  • Take photographs of each asset.
  • Complete all required attribute data to document the manufacturer and model, material and personnel information as well as location information.
  • Field technicians may be required to perform other related duties as required.
  • Field technicians should be knowledgeable of field activities and client/company procedures used in field data collection.
  • Organize assigned work and develop effective work methods.

Requirements

  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in GIS or Engineering preferred.
  • 0-3 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in using a computer Microsoft Office and GPS / GIS technology.
  • Ability to walk and stand for the workday.
  • One or more of the following is preferred, not required: Esri ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Field Maps, GNSS/GPS equipment, OSHA 10-hr.

  • Must be able to learn and demonstrate familiarity with natural gas utilities and general construction activities.

Skills

  • Knowledgeable of field activities and client/company procedures used in field data collection.
  • Ability to organize assigned work and develop effective work methods.

Pay

$22 – $24/hr

Schedule

The typical construction schedule for assigned project(s) can be varied week-over-week, current projections anticipate a standard 40-hour work week. If, during weekly periods where the construction schedule for assigned projects cannot fulfill a full 40-hour work week, employee can elect to take accrued PTO or time without pay. Alternatively, overtime opportunities may also be available throughout each work week and is dependent upon Client needs and supervisor approval.
