About the Role

Join Casey’s as a Government Relations Manager and play a key role in shaping public policy initiatives that support the company's government relations strategy and advocacy efforts. In partnership with the Government Relations Director, you will build relationships with government and industry leaders, track legislative and regulatory issues, and help drive advocacy efforts that advance Casey's strategic priorities across current and emerging markets.

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of Casey's government relations strategy to advance public policies aligned with the company's strategic priorities and business objectives.
  • Engage with legislators, regulators, and industry organizations to advocate for policies that support the company's growth and long-term success.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments that may impact Casey's business. Assist in evaluating potential risks and opportunities and support the timely communication of emerging laws and regulations to inform compliance and mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with government officials, regulatory agencies, trade associations, and external stakeholders. Represent Casey's interest in public policy discussions, regulatory forums, and industry coalitions.
  • Support the integration of newly acquired and emerging markets into Casey's government relations strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities and advocacy efforts.
  • Partner closely with the Director, Government Relations, to support key initiatives, advance strategic priorities, and assess enterprise-wide legislative and regulatory impacts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • At least seven years of experience in government relations, public affairs, or a related field.
  • Experience working in or with government agencies, legislative offices, or advocacy organizations.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly evaluate and synthesize legislative, regulatory, and public policy information and support the development of advocacy strategies on behalf of Casey's.
  • Strong knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes, including how laws and regulations are developed, interpreted, and implemented at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex issues into clear, actionable insights for a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to build effective relationships and partnerships across Legal, Compliance, Operations, and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound business judgment and strong problem-solving abilities, with a practical, solutions-oriented approach to addressing business challenges.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, with the ability to quickly learn and leverage emerging technologies to support Government Relations strategies and initiatives.
  • Work is primarily performed in an office setting.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop as well as frequently lift products weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Travel will be required at least 20% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Law and/or Master's degree.
  • Knowledge of key public policy issues affecting the convenience store, retail, restaurant, or food industries.
  • Experience within the convenience, retail, restaurant, or broader food industry.

Pay

Starting hiring range: $99,900 - $139,000. Actual pay may vary based on Casey’s assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, and qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include local prevailing wages and internal equity. This position is eligible for an annual cash bonus based on company performance and an annual equity grant in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The full salary range for this role extends beyond the hiring range listed, allowing team members the opportunity to continue to grow within the company.
