Government and Public Sector - Service Delivery Center - AI Solution Senior Developer

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and improve AI-enabled applications, proofs of concept, prototypes, and reusable technical components
- Own defined features or technical workstreams and coordinate their delivery from initial requirements through implementation
- Translate business, functional, and technical requirements into solution components, development tasks, acceptance criteria, and testable outcomes
- Develop AI-enabled web applications using modern front-end and back-end technologies
- Integrate generative AI models and services into applications using APIs, cloud services, and approved open-source frameworks
- Build retrieval-augmented generation solutions, enterprise-search capabilities, intelligent assistants, and AI-enabled workflow automations
- Develop APIs, application services, data integrations, prompt workflows, and connections to enterprise data sources
- Support the evaluation of technical approaches, frameworks, models, and tools based on solution requirements, client environments, security considerations, and delivery constraints
- Apply development standards related to source control, testing, code review, documentation, security, deployment, and maintainability
- Review code, technical deliverables, test results, and supporting documentation produced by other team members
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, defects, and blockers, and communicate them promptly to engagement and delivery leadership
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, model-integration, data, performance, and deployment issues
- Guide Staff professionals in completing development tasks, following team standards, and resolving technical challenges
- Participate in client and engagement-team discussions to clarify requirements, explain technical decisions, demonstrate working solutions, and communicate delivery progress
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including solution designs, data flows, integration details, configuration guidance, test evidence, and deployment instructions
- Contribute reusable components, proven development patterns, and lessons learned that can improve delivery across engagements
- Stay current on relevant developments in generative AI, application development, cloud services, data engineering, and responsible AI
Qualifications
- Must be able to obtain and maintain secret clearance or higher
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3–5+ years of related professional experience
- Comfortable working in-person as needed
- Relevant hands-on experience developing software, data, AI, analytics, or automation solutions
- Development experience with Python and a modern backend framework (FastAPI, Flask, Django, etc.)
- Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and a modern front-end framework (React, Next.js, Vue, Angular, Svelte, etc.)
- Experience integrating generative AI models or services into applications through APIs, cloud services, or approved open-source frameworks
- Experience developing APIs, application services, data integrations, or secure connections to enterprise data sources
- Experience developing or deploying applications within a cloud environment (Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, etc.)
- Working knowledge of SQL, relational or nonrelational databases, data ingestion, data transformation, and data-quality concepts
- Experience with software development lifecycle practices, source control, testing, code review, technical documentation, and deployment processes
- Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
- Flexibility and ability to work effectively with nationally distributed teams
- Ability to prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, track open issues, and communicate risks or blockers
- Excellent English-language skills, both written and verbal
Skills
- Strong hands-on development skills and ability to independently deliver defined AI application features or technical workstreams
- Understanding of generative AI application patterns, including model integration, prompting, retrieval-augmented generation, grounding, and enterprise-data connections
- Ability to translate requirements and technical designs into working, testable, and maintainable software
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills across application, integration, data, and AI components
- Ability to evaluate implementation options and make practical technical recommendations within established architecture and delivery constraints

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building retrieval-augmented generation solutions using vector databases, enterprise-search services, embeddings, and related technologies
- Experience developing intelligent assistants, AI-enabled workflow solutions, or agent-based applications
- Experience moving AI proofs of concept into secure and maintainable application environments
- Experience with cloud-native application services, containers, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, or application monitoring
- Experience with Microsoft Azure AI services, Azure OpenAI Service, Amazon Bedrock, or comparable AI platforms
- Familiarity with open-source language models, model evaluation, inference optimization, or model fine-tuning
- Familiarity with responsible AI, privacy, security, accessibility, and human-centered AI development practices
- Experience developing solutions for government clients or within environments that require formal security, documentation, and approval processes
- Experience guiding junior developers or reviewing the work of other technical team members
- Relevant technical, cloud, AI, agile delivery, or software-development certifications
Pay
The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $65,500 to $134,000. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State, and California (excluding Sacramento) is $78,600 to $152,100. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography.

Schedule
Consistent with EY’s collaborative working model, the role is expected to include 60% in-person engagement in support of effective teaming and delivery, subject to client and business requirements. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
