About the role

The Government Affairs Specialist plays a vital role in supporting Charter’s government affairs strategies and tactics in the Northeast. This position works closely with the Northeast State Government Affairs team to support the achievement of legislative, community engagement, franchising, and regulatory goals.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute and support Charter's government affairs strategies and tactics in the Northeast.
  • Actively and consistently support all efforts of the Northeast Government Affairs team’s objectives.
  • Support Directors of Government Affairs with local franchising needs, projects, and administrative tasks as needed.
  • Oversee administration of franchise related filings to ensure timely and accurate filing of notices, applications, and reports.
  • Prepare and file franchise renewal applications and reports, plus other related franchise compliance matters.
  • Review, interpret, and communicate terms and conditions of franchises, franchise-related agreements, and other contracts for implementation to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Prepare, analyze, forecast, and regularly track annual budget, including developing reports, and management and communication of results.
  • Aid in compliance activities related to lobbying disclosure regulations and election law.
  • Represent the company before external constituencies, including elected officials and other state and local government agencies, and organize and represent the company at community events and other external functions.
  • Complete other duties/responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years administrative or support experience.

Qualifications

  • Analytical and interpersonal skills to manage and foster change.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Strong written, verbal and communication abilities.
  • Effective prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Power Point, Outlook and Publishing.

Skills

  • Knowledge of cable, telecommunications and broadband products, services and regulation (preferred).

Pay

The base pay for this position generally is between $50,400.00 and $80,600.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
