Governance, Risk, and Compliance Senior Manager - Public Sector with State Government and Higher Ed. Focus

About the role

The Weaver Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) team is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager to join our Public Sector practice. The ideal candidate will be a leader who can grow our public sector team, build strong client relationships, and expand our client base.

Responsibilities

  • Lead entity wide risk assessments and internal audits
  • Develop and conduct value-oriented internal and compliance audits
  • Support clients in reengineering processes to mitigate risks and improve efficiency
  • Perform performance audits of organizational operations and compliance audits of contracts
  • Build and maintain relationships with executive management and boards
  • Deliver audit reports to audit committees and boards
  • Manage and mentor staff, develop training programs, and support career development
  • Represent Weaver in the public sector market and assist with new business opportunities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, Public Administration, or a related field
  • CPA, CIA, or other relevant certification
  • 8+ years of client service experience, organizational experience in internal audit or compliance, or consulting experience
  • Advanced understanding of governmental business environments, compliance, and risk requirements
  • Advanced ability to perform government-related research and interpret statutes and regulations
  • Strong project management, independent thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Strong relationship management and practice development skills
  • Experience managing and developing staff

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Policy, Public Administration, or a related field
  • Relevant industry experience
  • Proven ability to supervise 2 to 5 or more individuals
  • Experience building and providing presentations to senior management and boards
  • Experience attracting and servicing new clients and expanding services to existing clients
  • Involvement in professional organizations such as IIA, AHIA, AGA, ALGA, AICPA, etc.
