Governance Lead | Artificial Intelligence

About the role

The Governance Lead at CBIZ is tasked with establishing and overseeing the frameworks, controls, standards, and policies that guide responsible AI. This role ensures that AI initiatives align with regulatory expectations, internal policies, project management standards, and risk management practices. The Governance Lead collaborates with various teams to promote effective oversight and sustainable execution.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain governance frameworks, policies, and procedures for AI initiatives and related technology programs.
• Provide oversight of risk, compliance, documentation, and controls.
• Partner with stakeholders and leaders to align governance requirements with project planning, delivery, and execution.
• Lead and coordinate teams while collaborating closely with peer functions across technology and business operations.
• Support project governance using Traditional and Agile SDLC methodologies and collaboration tools such as VSTS, Jira, and similar platforms.
• Recommend improvements to policies, processes, and governance structures.
• Communicate governance expectations, project status, and recommendations effectively across all levels of the organization.

Requirements

Essential qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, at least 6 years of related experience, and at least 3 years of supervisory experience. A degree in Information Technology, Computer Systems Analysis, or Management Information Systems is preferred, along with PMP certification. Knowledge of healthcare industry regulations, policies, and procedures, and experience working with business stakeholders and leaders, IT project planning, delivery, and execution using Traditional and Agile SDLC methodologies are also required. Experience with VSTS, Jira, and/or other team/project collaboration tools, and the ability to work in and lead a team, while communicating and coordinating with peer teams, are preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing governance models for AI, analytics, automation, cybersecurity, or enterprise technology initiatives.
• Knowledge of responsible AI, data governance, privacy, model oversight, and technology risk management.
• Experience partnering with compliance, legal, security, and executive stakeholders in regulated environments.
• Relevant certifications in project management, governance, risk, compliance, or security preferred.
• Strong understanding of policy development, audit readiness, and control documentation practices.
• Experience supporting governance reporting and executive-level decision-making processes.

Skills

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs may be required.
