About the role

Staff Platform Automation Engineer position at Bread Financial (formerly Alliance Data Systems/Columbus) located at 7500 Dallas Parkway, Plano, Texas 75024. This is a hybrid role requiring 1‑2 days per week in the office. The engagement is a 12+ month contract (W2, US‑only). Interview process consists of two rounds: a technical interview followed by a design/architecture solution interview. One of the following certifications is required for submission: AWS Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, or Google Cloud‑Cloud Digital Leader.

Responsibilities

• Designing, implementing, and scaling enterprise platform capabilities, shared services, automation solutions, and developer productivity platforms
• Working across areas of platform engineering
• Leading large‑scale technical initiatives and influencing engineering strategy across multiple teams
• Applying strong expertise in cloud‑native architectures, platform engineering, automation, DevOps, and modern software delivery practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related field of study or equivalent, relevant work experience
• 8‑10 years of experience in platform engineering, software engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, automation engineering, or related technical disciplines
• Proven experience designing, implementing, and scaling enterprise platform capabilities, shared services, automation solutions, and developer productivity platforms
• Demonstrated experience leading large‑scale technical initiatives and influencing engineering strategy across multiple teams
• Strong expertise in cloud‑native architectures, platform engineering, automation, DevOps, and modern software delivery practices

Qualifications

• Experience leading enterprise platform transformations, cloud modernization programs, developer experience initiatives, or AI‑enabled engineering programs
• Experience defining technology strategy and influencing organization‑wide engineering standards and roadmaps
• Relevant industry certifications in cloud platforms, DevOps, platform engineering, software development, automation, AI/ML, data engineering, or related technologies are preferred
