About the Role

Set against the dramatic backdrop of South Mountain, our championship golf course welcomes resort guests, local players, corporate groups, and tournament participants seeking an impeccably orchestrated day under Arizona’s big blue skies. This is an opportunity for a polished, commercially minded golf professional to lead from the front: creating memorable guest moments, energizing a high-performing team, and ensuring every tee time, tournament, transaction, and finishing touch reflects the elevated standards of a premier resort destination. You’ll partner closely with the Director of Golf to bring our “Grand Expectations” to life—balancing operational precision with genuine hospitality, thoughtful upselling, and the kind of calm, confident leadership that makes guests feel instantly looked after.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a welcoming, seamless golf experience for every guest, from the first reservation inquiry through the final scorecard.
  • Lead, coach, schedule, and support front-service associates, including golf shop and beverage-cart personnel, to consistently deliver exceptional service standards.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty in the Director of Golf’s absence, making sound operational decisions and maintaining a polished guest experience.
  • Coordinate tee-time reservations, organize starting sheets, and manage tournament and event reservations to optimize pace of play, guest satisfaction, and revenue.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of the course, golf shop merchandise, resort golf packages, food-and-beverage offerings, and the unique experiences available across Arizona Grand Resort & Spa.
  • Uphold course policies, including golfer dress code, opening and closing procedures, pace-of-play expectations, and service standards.
  • Keep the golf shop clean, organized, well-presented, and ready for guests throughout each day.
  • Assist with inventory control, retail and food-and-beverage ordering, weekly inventory, and reconciliation.
  • Process sales transactions accurately, including cash handling, house-bank balancing, credit-card authorizations, guestroom charges, and house-account postings through the point-of-sale system.
  • Support payroll accounting during the Director of Golf’s scheduled days away.

Tournament Coordination

From intimate resort outings to high-energy corporate tournaments, you’ll help turn a golf event into a complete Phoenix story: flawless logistics, purposeful details, and hospitality guests remember long after the final putt.

  • Promote, book, and coordinate resort, group, tournament, and outside play opportunities.
  • Follow up with previous golf groups, respond to incoming golf inquiries, and support group sales when the Sales Manager is unavailable.
  • Conduct client site visits alongside the Sales Manager, uncovering the details that will exceed expectations.
  • Upsell and customize tournament packages to maximize revenue while creating an experience tailored to each group.
  • Coordinate with Finance to establish master accounts, confirm deposits and guest counts, and ensure accurate, timely billing.
  • Create banquet event orders and collaborate with banquet, culinary, recreation, and resort teams to deliver a unified event experience.
  • Communicate event details clearly across all resort departments, ensuring every team is prepared for a successful day of play.
  • Create event draws, scorecards, cart signs, prize displays, and on-course signage; distribute tournament draws at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Manage tournament setup, skill prizes, hole-in-one prizes, on-course contests, prize tables, rooms, and event-day logistics.
  • Serve as the on-site coordinator during tournaments, monitor weather and pace of play, ensure timely tee-offs, and provide scoring support as needed.
  • Listen closely to guest feedback, resolve concerns with professionalism, and follow up with event and tournament satisfaction surveys.
  • Coordinate billing for lost or damaged property and ensure each event receives a timely, accurate final bill.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  • Prior golf operations experience required, ideally within a resort, private club, destination golf, or high-volume hospitality environment.
  • Membership in the PGA or LPGA of America is preferred.
  • Maricopa County Food Service Worker Card and Arizona Title IV alcohol certification are required.
  • A natural ability to lead with both accountability and encouragement.
  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to engage guests, clients, associates, and cross-functional resort partners.
  • A service-first mindset paired with sound business instincts, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for golf.
  • Comfort using computers, point-of-sale systems, fax machines, photocopiers, and standard office technology.
  • Ability to operate a cash register, drive a golf cart, lift and carry golf bags up to 30 pounds, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in Phoenix’s changing desert conditions, including warm temperatures and seasonal weather.

About the Team
