Supervisor
Works under the general and detailed supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent and full-time maintenance employees
Essential Functions
- Aid in the maintenance of the assigned golf course and surrounding areas.
- Maintain bunker bunkers, mow greens and tees, change hole locations, hand water, remove debris, fill ball washers and water coolers, move tee markers, perform basic irrigation repair, apply fertilizer and chemicals, and perform other routine maintenance tasks.
- Perform maintenance tasks such as string trimming, hand weeding, cart path maintenance, mow rough and adjacent areas, and general groundskeeping.
- Accept and perform a variety of assignments as directed by supervisors; all seasonal employees are expected to assist with assigned tasks when appropriately trained.
- Perform light construction and landscape work including minor repairs to equipment, vehicles, buildings, and facilities.
- Operate trucks, tractors, mowers, and other maintenance equipment and hand tools in support of turf care, construction, and general maintenance activities.
- Follow proper procedures for handling pesticides, fertilizers, and other materials in accordance with training and safety guidelines.
- Promptly report job-related issues, incomplete tasks, and safety concerns to supervisor.
- Perform custodial duties as needed, including restroom cleaning and garbage removal.
- Maintain records and reports relating to maintenance, operation, and improvements.
- Follow all BPRD safety policies and procedures outlined in the Risk Management Handbook.
- Complete all necessary payroll forms and utilize the electronic time and attendance timekeeping system.
- Understand and follow the standard operating procedures outlined in the employee manual.
- Understand and follow the Human Resource Policy and Procedure Handbook items related to this position.
- Represent BPRD in a professional and positive manner. BPRD issues clothing and equipment to employees and the issued items are to be used in an appropriate manner, not inconsistent with the image BPRD wishes to convey to the public.
Other Duties and Tasks
- Inform supervisor prior to running out of supplies, scheduling special tools or equipment, or upon completion of a task.
- Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with staff, contractors, and the public.
- Arrive at scheduled time and be ready to work. Absences must have prior approval by the supervisor.
- Responsible for personal and job site neatness; assist with maintaining clean and organized work areas.
- Perform a variety of tasks that range from skilled to unskilled work.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to prepare written reports and to report problems and repairs to supervisor.
- Must maintain a fitness level acceptable to perform the skills required of the position including prolonged standing, walking, and bending.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds alone or heavier lifting with other employees.
- Minimum age is 18 years old. Must have a valid driver's license for class of vehicle to be driven.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret labels on pesticides, safety data, manuals, and written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers.
- Employee is required to work 35-40 hours a week and overtime when required.
- Work is primarily outdoors and requires working under extreme conditions.
- Employee is required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays on a rotating or as needed basis. Work may involve close or minimal supervision.
- Work involves physical labor, operation of equipment, and working with pesticides.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds alone or heavier lifting with other employees.
