About the role

The City of Bellevue is seeking to hire Golf Course Maintenance Staff 2 (Maintenance Aide 2) positions. These positions involve direct supervision while on the job site, with opportunities to work independently as proficiency increases.

Responsibilities

  • Assists full-time employees with golf course maintenance operations including mowing, edging, blowing, line trimming, weeding and trash and debris removal.
  • Removal of invasive species, pruning and manual vegetation control.
  • Work around golfers and the general public.
  • Work with city staff and pro shop staff on a daily basis.
  • General outdoor golf course maintenance.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Preferred 2-4 months of relevant experience.
  • Exposure/experience adhering to safety rules and procedures is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of and familiarity with hand-held power tools and related maintenance equipment.
  • Basic mechanical skills and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to learn to operate safely the equipment and machinery necessary to perform assigned tasks.
  • Ability to listen and understand direction/instruction, communicates with team members, and responds to customers tactfully and courteously.
  • Criminal History check required on all applicants.

Supplemental Information

  • Physical Demands: Walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, reaching with hands and arms, lifting up to 50 pounds, adjusting focus, pushing, pulling, working in all weather conditions, wearing appropriate work clothing and protective footwear.

Union Position

This position is a Teamsters Local No. 763 union position. After initial 2 months of continuous employment or within the month following the first day of rehire, employees will become bargaining unit members and pay monthly union dues (current rate is 2.25 times their hourly rate of pay) and initiation dues as required.
