About the role

Description Incorporated in 1955 and encompassing more than 454 acres, the Mt. Prospect Park District provides outstanding recreational programs, events, parks, facilities and services. With seven primary facilities and 27 neighborhood parks, the Park District is an integral part of a thriving multi-generational community. District open space includes two outdoor pools, biking and walking paths, a dog park and sizable space for outdoor athletic programming. The District covers over 11 square miles and serves a region of over a quarter million residents in Mount Prospect and surrounding communities.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up cart staging area in the morning and clean and store carts at night.
  • Clean and maintain the driving range area.
  • Clean and maintain the golf carts and the golf cart storage and staging areas.
  • Pick and wash practice golf balls.
  • Wash range ball machine.
  • Organize and maintain the push cart fleet.
  • Cleanup garbage in the cart staging area.
  • Put out and pick up water jugs from the golf course.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings.
  • Act cheerfully and friendly to all patrons and act as an emissary of the course.
  • Provide excellent customer service behind the counter and over the phone.
  • Effectively run the point of sale system.
  • Aid in the receipt, display, inventory, control and promotion of merchandise sales.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times.
  • Control and manage play; ensure guest check-in and fee collection in coordination with Golf Course Starter.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of golf shop merchandise.
  • Help organize and run outings and tournaments.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Previous Golf Experience Is Preferred, But Not Mandatory.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with others to allow for the coordination of work, safety and in emergency situations if needed.
  • Must be able to recognize unsafe conditions and respond accordingly.
  • Must adhere to all Park District policies.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move water jugs and baskets of golf balls weighing between 35-50 pounds each.
  • Must be able to walk up and down a 25% grade.
  • Must be able to talk and see (both near and far).
  • Must be able to stand, sit and/or walk for long periods of time.
  • May be exposed to air conditioning while indoors.
  • When outdoors, may be exposed to outdoor temperatures and conditions including exposure to the sun, heat, cold, high humidity, wind and rain.

Pay

The starting pay for the part-time Golf Course Cashier and Cart Attendant is $15.00 per hour.

Schedule

This is a part-time seasonal position, which will start on/around mid-March and generally ends around November 30th, possibly sooner or later based on weather and need of the business. Commitment to the full season is expected. The course is open 7 days a week and holidays from 6 am to dusk. Must be able to work up to 25 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Working when scheduled is an essential part of the Golf Course Cashier and Cart Attendant position. Must be able to work additional hours when necessary. Due to the needs of the Park District, evening and weekend hours are required. Your work schedule may vary and your work week could exceed regular hours at times, but will not exceed 1,000 hours per year.
