Golf Cart Porter

About the role

A motivated and collaborative individual to join the Parks and Recreation Department. Under general supervision, operates golf carts and performs general maintenance in accordance with all safety regulations, and provides courteous and effective customer service for customers of the City’s Landa Park golf course.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains golf carts to include charging batteries, washing and detailing in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; identifies and reports problems requiring additional attention.
• Assists in maintaining golf course grounds to include storing equipment, locking gates, picking practice areas, and cleaning cart barn.
• Recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent or in process of attaining.
• Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.
• Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
• Fundamentals of the game of golf and golf course operations.
• City safety rules and regulations, occupational hazards and safety precautions.

Skills

• Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tools and equipment according to standard operating and safety procedures.
• Dealing tactfully and courteously with the general public; providing effective and friendly customer service.
• Effective communication, both verbal and written.

Work Environment

• Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, with exposure to mobile equipment, requires constant physical effort.
• Subject to standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to safely pull, push, lift and carry items weighing up to eighty (80) pounds.
• Must be able to work irregular hours and varying schedules including weekends and holidays.
• May be required to work immediately before, during or after an emergency or disaster.
• This position is designated safety and/or security sensitive.
