GMET Associate

This position plays a key role in the successful daily operation of the museum, ensuring outstanding guest service, maintaining communication and workspace management, and conveying knowledge of the museum's collections, galleries, and policies. Associates also have opportunities to participate in department-led events to learn about other areas of the Philanthropy and Communications Team.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome incoming and outgoing guests of NHMU.
• Demonstrate customer service standards through positive professional communication with internal and external guests.
• Know and enforce the policies and procedures of the GMET department and museum.
• Use de-escalation strategies to resolve guest and member complaints before escalating to the GMET Lead.
• Stay aware of daily activities and programs happening in the museum.
• Maintain cleanliness of Gallery and Info Desk areas.
• Use and maintain gallery interpretation tools provided.
• Proactively engage with guests in galleries and other public spaces, anticipating their needs and answering questions to ensure a fun and safe visit.
• Develop an intermediate-level knowledge of the galleries to help answer questions and enhance the guest experience.
• Attend monthly staff meetings and/or after-hours events.
• Capture guest surveys to meet individual and team goals.

Requirements

• Equivalency statement: 1 year of higher education can substitute for 1 year of directly related work experience (e.g., a bachelor’s degree equals 4 years of experience).
• Department may hire at one of the following levels:
  • Program Assistant I: Requires little to no related experience.

Schedule

Part-time, with a variable weekly schedule that may include morning, afternoon, or evening shifts (Wednesdays only). Requires at least 19 hours of availability per week, including either Saturday, Sunday, or both. Expectations to work weekends and holidays.

Pay

$15.00 - $15.50 per hour.
