About the role
Gloucestershire Music is seeking a highly skilled and passionate ensemble instructor to join their contracted team at Gloucestershire Youth Jazz Academy (GYJA). This post will support Gloucestershire Music in achieving high quality music education by effectively supporting, tutoring, instructing or coaching young musicians.
This role will primarily involve working with our training jazz orchestra which meets 6.00 – 7.30pm on Wednesdays, during term-time, at Cheltenham Bournside School. Membership of GYJA is open to young musicians of approximately grade 4+ standard who have a passion for learning more about jazz. Along with Gloucestershire Youth Jazz Orchestra, the band will have multiple high quality performance opportunities throughout the year.
Responsibilities
- Support Gloucestershire Music in achieving high quality music education by effectively supporting, tutoring, instructing or coaching young musicians.
- Work with the training jazz orchestra which meets 6.00 – 7.30pm on Wednesdays, during term-time, at Cheltenham Bournside School.
- Collaborate with the other GYJA tutor, the Extended Learning and Provisions Manager and the Head of Service for Gloucestershire Music.
Requirements
- Possess the skills to motivate and inspire young musicians to aspire to the highest standards of performance.
- Have experience of leading such ensembles.
- Have a passion for youth music and jazz.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be working in collaboration with the other GYJA tutor, the Extended Learning and Provisions Manager and the Head of Service for Gloucestershire Music.

Pay
£41,771- £47,181 per annum (pro rata)
