About General Merchandise

Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in‑stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set‑up and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests as you are completing your daily tasks.
• When guests need assistance, engage with them in a welcoming way to help solve their specific needs.
• Thank guests and let them know we’re happy they chose to shop at Target.
• Execute daily tasks assigned by your leader to help achieve goals that align with business priorities, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
• If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures.
• Execute processes such as changing product prices, merchandise set‑up and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed by your leader for all areas.
• Learn how operational procedures—setting up and organizing merchandise, managing product stock levels, and maintaining sales‑floor areas—affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
• Be knowledgeable about the resources, products, and services available in the total store and in your specific area to solve issues for guests and improve their experience.
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
• Work safely at all times; comply with safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct them where possible.
• Support guest services such as back‑up cashier and digital fulfillment processes (e.g., picking and packing orders or delivering pickup orders) while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local adult‑beverage laws.
• Perform all other duties based on business needs.

• Climb up and down ladders safely.
• Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, frequently lifting or moving items up to 44 lb without assistance.
• Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays) with reliable and prompt attendance.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing duties such as Drive‑Up and carry‑out.
• Maintain mobility for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary).

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $16.75 USD per hour.
