General Merchandise Expert Role

Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in‑stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set‑up and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks.
• Engage with guests in a welcoming way to help solve their specific needs and thank them for shopping at Target.
• Execute daily tasks assigned by your leader, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
• If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures.
• Execute processes such as changing product prices, merchandise set‑up and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed.
• Learn how operational procedures (setting up and organizing merchandise, managing stock levels, maintaining sales‑floor areas) affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
• Be knowledgeable about resources, products, and services available in the store to solve guest issues and improve their experience.
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; work safely, follow safety policies, report hazards, and correct them when possible.
• Support guest services such as back‑up cashier duties and digital fulfillment processes (picking and packing orders, delivering pickup orders) while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local adult‑beverage laws.
• Perform all other duties based on business needs.

• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
• Climb ladders, scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting or moving items up to 44 lb without assistance.
• Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays) with reliable and prompt attendance.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing duties such as drive‑up and carry‑out.
• Maintain mobility for the duration of a scheduled shift, which may vary in length.

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $16.50 USD per hour.

Schedule

Flexible work schedule with varying hours, days, or shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and other peak shopping times. Shift length may vary; ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift is required.
