General Merchandise Expert Role

Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in‑stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set‑up and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks.
• Engage with guests in a welcoming way to help solve their specific needs and thank them for shopping at Target.
• Execute daily tasks assigned by your leader, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
• If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures.
• Perform processes such as changing product prices, merchandise set‑up and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed.
• Learn how operational procedures (setting up and organizing merchandise, managing stock levels, maintaining sales‑floor areas) affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
• Be knowledgeable about store resources, products, and services to solve guest issues and improve their experience.
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; work safely, follow safety policies, report hazards and correct them where possible.
• Support guest services such as backup cashier duties and digital fulfillment processes (picking, packing, delivering pickup orders) while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local adult‑beverage laws.
• Perform all other duties based on business needs.

Physical Requirements

• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
• Climb up and down ladders.
• Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without additional assistance.
• Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays); reliable and prompt attendance required.
• Ability to work in and be exposed to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing duties such as Drive‑Up and carryout.
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary).

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $15.50 USD per hour.

Schedule

Flexible work schedule with varying hours, days or shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays and other peak shopping times.
