About General Merchandise

Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in‑stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set‑up and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks.
• Assist guests in a welcoming way to solve their specific needs and thank them for shopping at Target.
• Execute daily tasks assigned by your leader, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
• If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures.
• Execute processes such as changing prices, merchandise set‑up and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed.
• Learn how operational procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
• Be knowledgeable about store resources, products, and services to solve guest issues.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; work safely, follow safety policies, report hazards.
• Support guest services such as back‑up cashier and digital fulfillment (picking, packing, delivering pickup orders) while maintaining compliance with adult beverage laws.
• Perform all other duties based on business needs.

• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
• Climb ladders, scan, handle and move merchandise safely, frequently lifting or moving up to 44 lb without assistance.
• Reliable and prompt attendance; flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays).
• Capable of working in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements (e.g., drive‑up, carryout).
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.
