General Merchandise Expert Role

Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in‑stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set‑up and maintenance, and pricing processes for all areas of the store. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks.
• Assist guests in a welcoming way to solve their specific needs and thank them for choosing Target.
• Execute daily tasks assigned by your leader, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
• If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures.
• Execute processes such as changing product prices, merchandise set‑up and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed.
• Learn how operational procedures—setting up and organizing merchandise, managing stock levels, maintaining sales‑floor areas—affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
• Be knowledgeable about the resources, products, and services available in the store to solve guest issues and improve their experience.
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; work safely, follow all safety policies, report hazards, and correct them when possible.
• Support guest services such as back‑up cashier and digital fulfillment (picking and packing orders or delivering pickup orders) while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local adult‑beverage laws.
• Perform all other duties based on business needs.

• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
• Climb ladders, scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 lb without additional assistance.
• Reliable and prompt attendance.
• Ability to work in and be exposed to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing duties such as drive‑up and carryout.
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $15.50 USD per hour.
