Pay

Starting hourly rate: $15.50 USD per hour.

About the role

The General Merchandise Expert is an expert of store process and efficiency who ensures product is set, in‑stock, accurately priced, and signed on the sales floor. This role supports inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas, conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set‑up and maintenance, and assists with pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks.
• Engage with guests in a helpful manner to solve their specific needs and thank them for shopping at Target.
• Execute daily tasks assigned by your leader, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
• If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures.
• Perform processes such as changing product prices, merchandise set‑up and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed.
• Learn how operational procedures (e.g., merchandise organization, stock level management, sales‑floor upkeep) affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
• Be knowledgeable about store resources, products, and services to resolve guest issues and improve their experience.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; work safely, follow all safety policies, and report or correct hazards.
• Support guest services as a back‑up cashier and assist with digital fulfillment processes (picking, packing, delivering pickup orders) while complying with federal, state, and local adult‑beverage laws.
• Perform all other duties based on business needs.

Qualifications

• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple‑frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.
• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team.
• Skill in resolving guest questions quickly on the spot.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow multi‑step processes.
• Ability to remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment, accomplishing multiple tasks within established timeframes.
• Accurate handling of cash register operations as needed.
• Comfort climbing ladders and safely moving merchandise, including lifting or moving items up to 44 lb without assistance.
• Flexible work schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) with reliable and prompt attendance.
• Capability to work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements (e.g., Drive‑Up, carryout).
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.
