Starting hourly rate: $18.75 USD per hour. Pay range: $18.75 – $28.15 USD per hour.

General Merchandise Expert

Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for guests by ensuring product is set, in‑stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set‑up and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store. Experts enable efficient delivery to guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks.
• Assist guests in a welcoming way to solve their specific needs and thank them for shopping at Target.
• Execute daily tasks assigned by your leader, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
• Operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures if certified.
• Change prices, set up and maintain merchandise, and ensure inventory accuracy as directed.
• Learn how operational procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
• Be knowledgeable about store resources, products, and services to solve guest issues.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; work safely, follow safety policies, report and correct hazards.
• Support guest services such as backup cashier and digital fulfillment processes (picking, packing, delivering pickup orders) while maintaining compliance with adult‑beverage laws.
• Perform all other duties based on business needs.

Qualifications & Skills

• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple‑frequency devices, operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.
• Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem‑solving skills to resolve guest questions quickly.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow multi‑step processes.
• Ability to remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple tasks within established timeframes.
• Accurate cash register handling as needed.
• Physical ability to climb ladders, scan, handle and move merchandise safely, including lifting or moving items up to 44 lb without assistance.
• Flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) with reliable attendance.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements (e.g., drive‑up, carryout).
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.
