General Merchandise Expert Role

Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in‑stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set‑up and maintenance, and pricing processes for all areas of the store. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks.
• Engage with guests in a welcoming way to help solve their specific needs and thank them for shopping at Target.
• Execute daily tasks assigned by your leader, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
• If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures.
• Change prices, set up and maintain merchandise, and ensure inventory accuracy as directed.
• Learn how operational procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
• Be knowledgeable about store resources, products, and services to solve guest issues and improve their experience.
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; work safely, follow safety policies, report hazards, and correct them when possible.
• Support guest services such as back‑up cashier duties and digital fulfillment processes (picking, packing, delivering pickup orders) while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local adult‑beverage laws.
• Perform all other duties based on business needs.

What We Are Looking For

• Quickly resolve guest questions on the spot.

• Ability to remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.

Skills

• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
• Climb up and down ladders safely.
• Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving items up to 44 pounds without assistance.
• Maintain reliable and prompt attendance.
• Work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements (e.g., Drive‑Up, carryout areas).
• Remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary).

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $16.25 USD per hour.
