The General Merchandise (GM) team focuses on guest experience through tasks such as replenishment, pricing, signage, setting and maintaining the sales floor and backroom, as well as inbound, outbound, and fulfillment responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly (10‑ft friendly greeting, 4‑ft personal greeting) and thank them at the end of each transaction.
• Help guests find items, resolve issues, and ensure a smooth shopping experience.
• Actively support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring experience.
• Execute daily tasks such as receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, setting up and maintaining merchandise, pricing activities, and putting up promotional signs.
• Operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures, if certified.
• Follow operational procedures for merchandise organization, product accuracy, stock levels, and sales‑floor maintenance to impact inventory management and profitability.
• Follow all Target policies, safety procedures, and role‑specific guidelines (e.g., food safety, pricing) and report/correct hazards.
• Support guest services as a backup cashier and assist with digital fulfillment processes (picking, packing, delivering pickup orders) while complying with applicable laws.
• Perform any other duties based on business needs.

Requirements

• Friendly, welcoming attitude toward guests and teammates.
• Strong communication skills; ability to use multiple‑frequency devices, handheld scanners, and other technology.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Quickly resolve guest questions on the spot.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow multi‑step processes.
• Remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment, handling multiple tasks within set timeframes.
• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
• Ability to climb ladders, scan, handle, and move merchandise safely, frequently lifting up to 44 lb without assistance.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and to take required meal and rest breaks.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other environmental conditions (e.g., drive‑up, carry‑out areas).
• Maintain mobility throughout the entire shift.

Flexible work schedule with varying hours, days, or shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and other peak shopping times.

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $17.00 USD per hour.
