About the role
The Glovebox Facility Operator is a Payload Operations Integration Center (POIC) flight control position that manages the Microgravity Sciences Glovebox (MSG) Rack or the Life Sciences Glovebox (LSG) Rack Facility. These operators provide real-time support for timeline execution, configuration, and troubleshooting of the Facility racks and payloads within the International Space Station (ISS). Assignments tend to be of moderate complexity and diversification.
Responsibilities
- Participate in simulation training, train on payloads operated in the Racks, and develop flight products for real-time support.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of the Glovebox Rack and monitor/manage its operation during real-time operations to ensure successful experiment execution.
- Report to the Payload Operations Director (POD) during real-time execution and coordinate rack-related activities with payload developers and flight controllers at the POIC.
- Coordinate with International Partner (IP) payload teams.
- Perform shift work, as the position requires a minimum of 16-hours/day, 5-days/week coverage.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university in a related field and 0-2 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of ISS operations is a plus.
- U.S. Citizenship with the ability to attain and maintain a government security clearance.
