Global Tax Director

The Controllership Team manages accounting, treasury, tax, and audit functions, bringing expertise and a controls mindset to internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, client teams, lenders, and audit professionals. Our team is located in Chicago, Illinois, and Pune, India.

Responsibilities

• Oversee ZS’s global tax compliance requirements.
• Design and lead initiatives related to our global tax operating model to manage the growing complexity of ZS’s global footprint.
• Collaborate with external tax advisors to manage ZS’s tax risk and evaluate opportunities for tax efficiency.
• Oversee nexus studies, transfer pricing studies, sales tax and other local and indirect tax processes, and tax audits, with support from external tax advisors.
• Support ZS’s corporate development and acquisition strategy through pre-acquisition due diligence and post-acquisition integration of tax compliance processes.
• Oversee the implementation and adherence to global tax compliance policies.
• Lead the evaluation of existing tax processes, collaborating with functional and regional leads and other Finance members to re-engineer processes for increased effectiveness and risk mitigation.
• Assess the current and future state of tax processes and consider impacts on enterprise systems.
• Research business tax needs and collaborate with external tax advisors to convert compliance requirements into process-based solutions.
• Understand business processes and anticipate areas for adding value to the services the Finance team provides.
• Supervise and mentor junior controllership team members as their professional development advisor.
• Actively participate in the development of controllership team members, providing coaching to elevate capabilities.
• Lead and participate in other special projects as necessary.

Requirements

• BS/BA degree in Accounting or a related area; CPA preferred but not required.
• 15+ years of relevant corporate tax experience, either in a professional services firm or for-profit business.
• Exceptional structured thinking and communication skills, able to synthesize complexity into crisp, executive-ready recommendations.
• Proven ability to drive stakeholder alignment and adoption/change, not just analysis.
• Experience in a professional services environment is highly preferred.
• Collaborative spirit and problem-solving approach.

Schedule

Travel

Travel is a requirement for client-facing roles at ZS. Business needs of your project and client are the priority, and while some projects may be local, all client-facing ZSers should be prepared to travel as needed.
