About the role
A leading global alternative investment firm is seeking a Global Tax Assistant Vice President to support domestic and international tax compliance, reporting, and investment-related tax matters across a diversified portfolio of multi-asset investment funds. This role offers exposure to complex fund structures, investment transactions, fund launches, and cross-functional collaboration with finance, fund accounting, and external tax advisors.
Responsibilities
- Review entity-level book-to-tax calculations, tax returns, tax allocations, and Schedule K-1s for investment and feeder funds, including partnerships, corporations, and mutual funds.
- Cook up coordination with third-party fund administrators, accountants, financial reporting teams, and external tax advisors to ensure accurate tax reporting and accounting treatment of transactions.
- Analyze investment acquisitions and dispositions to identify potential tax implications and planning opportunities.
- Support new fund and product launches by assisting with fund structuring, modeling tax leakage, and addressing investor tax considerations.
- Review trading activity and securities reports for tax adjustments, including wash sales, constructive sales, and straddle positions.
- Respond to tax authority notices and inquiries and assist with tax audits across multiple jurisdictions.
- Research and analyze complex domestic and international tax reporting issues.
- Provide tax compliance support for additional investment products, including retail and co-investment vehicles.
- Respond to investor and limited partner tax inquiries, due diligence requests, and investment performance-related tax questions.
- Partner with finance and other internal teams on tax-related projects and operational initiatives.
- Identify process improvements, operational efficiencies, and areas of potential tax risk.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of Big 4 tax experience within the asset management industry.
- Experience with investment partnership taxation strongly preferred.
- CPA designation and/or advanced degree preferred.
- Strong understanding of partnership taxation, fund structures, and investment-related tax matters.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial and tax data.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate tax allocations and maintain thorough supporting documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Collaborative team player with a strong work ethic, professionalism, and commitment to continuous learning.
