About the role
Planet is currently seeking a Global Supply Manager to join our team in San Francisco, CA. In this role, you will act as a focal point in communication and relationship building with suppliers and working on supply chain projects or process improvement to meet Planet’s overall goals.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic procurement for your suppliers, including developing and executing purchasing plans, identifying and mitigating long lead POs, and generally ensuring material availability to meet critical program timelines.
- Define, measure, and drive improvement on key performance metrics, such as OKR fulfillment, cost reductions, and strategic vendor management, including contracts review and negotiation.
- Drive and manage costs for assigned programs, representing Supply Chain in Program Spend reviews.
- Analyze component lifecycle status or production costs and influence engineering teams to make design updates as appropriate.
- Work closely with the supply planners and EPMs to manage the supply to meet demand, expedite delivery with suppliers in the event of shortage, and overall own the vendor relationship from start to finish.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in a production environment, executing and delivering results to leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experience partnering with Engineering and manufacturing leads to onboard suppliers, equipment, and capabilities to support manufacturing scaling.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, and the ability to effectively influence a wide range of stakeholders (i.e., colleagues, suppliers, and internal/external customers).
- Ability to both think strategically and execute tactically, a persistent attention to details, and a high level of comfort in working with numbers.
- Ability to work independently, manage shifting priorities, and multi-task to deliver on while maintaining a positive and collaborative attitude.
- Ability to analyze, create, and manage complex structured BOMs and configurations.
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills with the ability to learn technical applications quickly; familiarity with engineering drawings and specifications.
Qualifications
- Experience with mechanical or electrical systems, especially satellite bus systems or optical payloads in a technical or procurement specialist capacity.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T and specialty processes, for quoting and program management purposes.
- Proficiency in using ERP and other procurement tools like Netsuite and Coupa.
- Ability to interpret export/import policy, including EAR, ITAR, and HTS, and working with Compliance teams and suppliers to draft and manage export requests and technology control plans.

Pay
The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is $101,400 - $126,800 USD.
Schedule
This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to work from our San Francisco HQ 3 days per week.
