About the role

Duff & Phelps Investment Management Co. (D&P) is a boutique, investment-led manager specializing in listed real assets, including global listed infrastructure and clean energy strategies across developed markets. The Global Research Analyst role is designed for an equity research professional who wants to be fully embedded in the investment process, working side-by-side with portfolio managers and senior analysts to support active security selection and portfolio positioning within global listed infrastructure, clean energy, and related developed markets strategies.

This position is based in the Chicago office and does not require relocation. It is intended for professionals with 5-8 years of relevant investment research experience from the sell-side, buy-side, or a combination of both backgrounds. The role offers meaningful exposure, increasing responsibility, and visibility within the global listed infrastructure investment platform.

Responsibilities

  • Assume primary responsibility for a dedicated coverage universe, conducting in-depth fundamental research on developed markets companies across infrastructure and clean energy-related sectors.
  • Perform financial modeling, valuation analysis, and assessment of regulatory and competitive dynamics.
  • Evaluate long-term structural trends shaping global infrastructure, energy transition, and related developed markets investment opportunities.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers and fellow researchers to produce company research, earnings assessments, and valuation work supporting documented buy, hold, and sell decisions.
  • Engage directly with portfolio managers, company management teams, industry participants, and internal stakeholders to communicate investment views, risk considerations, and evolving sector themes.
  • Support portfolio-level discussions to ensure investments align with strategy objectives, valuation discipline, and risk tolerances.
  • Contribute to client- and stakeholder-facing materials, including marketing and board content, to support clear communication of investment strategy and positioning.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of relevant investment research experience from the sell-side, buy-side, or a combination of both backgrounds.
  • Sector expertise in industrials, energy, technology, utilities, or related infrastructure-oriented industries.
  • Experience in financial modeling, valuation analysis, and fundamental research.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a rigorous, research-driven environment.
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency (Green Card holder) as a condition of employment.

This role is not intended for candidates whose experience is primarily focused on REITs or traditional real estate securities.

Pay

The starting salary range is $140,000 to $160,000 annually. The starting salary offer will vary based on the applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
