Global Preconstruction Dir
Overview
Gilbane is seeking a Director of Preconstruction to lead the preconstruction function across the organization, focusing on standards, capability building, and project execution.
Responsibilities
Provide company-wide leadership for preconstruction, integrating safety and quality into all processes.
Align priorities, improve consistency, and support business objectives with operations, estimating, purchasing, VDC, safety, quality, scheduling, and executive leadership.
Support high-priority and complex pursuits and projects through hands-on preconstruction activities, executive oversight, and stabilization when necessary.
Develop and deliver enterprise preconstruction training programs on estimating, planning, risk management, safety, and quality integration.
Embed safety and quality standards into project scopes and plans, ensuring constructability reviews address risks and rework prevention.
Oversee estimates with risk, safety, quality, procurement, and execution considerations, ensuring appropriate contingencies.
Collaborate with operations and scheduling to develop execution plans prioritizing safety, quality, and reliable project startup.
Engage clients and stakeholders on safety, quality, and risk management strategies, driving value-based solutions.
Support trade partner and procurement strategies, evaluating subcontractors based on safety, quality, capability, and project fit.
Lead risk identification and continuous improvement efforts, tracking KPIs and integrating lessons learned into training and standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
15+ years of construction experience with significant preconstruction leadership responsibility.
Demonstrated success supporting large, complex, or high-risk pursuits and projects directly.
Experience establishing standards, processes, or training programs across multiple business units, regions, or project teams.
Strong knowledge of safety practices and quality management systems.
Experience developing and delivering training programs and mentoring others within the function.
Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders, support executive decision-making, and operate effectively in a highly collaborative environment.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $220,000-275,000 plus benefits and retirement program. Gilbane offers competitive health and welfare benefits and a generous profit-sharing/401k plan.
