About the role

You will be a hands-on in preparing and executing payrolls, this role focuses primarily on the US and other countries in the Americas. This includes validating inputs, managing data flows, and thoroughly reviewing the output from our global vendors to ensure 100% accuracy before payment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute & control: Prepare and execute payrolls, focusing primarily on the US and other countries in the Americas. Validate inputs, manage data flows, and review outputs from global vendors for accuracy.
  • Automation & process: Champion data integrity and system efficiency. Identify manual inefficiencies and design scalable workflows connecting seamlessly with HR and Finance workflows.
  • Stakeholder management: Actively manage external payroll vendors to ensure they meet our high standards. Handle payroll-related queries with empathy and speed, helping employees understand their pay slips.
  • Financial ownership: Bridge the gap between Payroll and Accounting. Ensure General Ledger (GL) journals, month-end reconciliations, and variance analyses align with our bank statements.
  • Compliance: Have experience with US multi-state payroll tax withholding. Stay ahead of evolving local tax requirements and proactively implement changes to ensure compliance.

Requirements

  • Experience: At least 6 years of experience in payroll. Solid grasp of payroll accounting principles and the General Ledger.
  • Mindset: Flexible and comfortable switching between different operating models and regions. Comfortable navigating an environment where processes are not always set in stone.
  • Curious: Naturally curious and eager to learn how complex mechanisms work. Ask "why" and dig into the details to understand discrepancies.
  • Global mindset: Culturally aware and flexible enough to work across different time zones. Think beyond your office and consider the broader business context.
  • Systems: Strong preference for experience with Workday and the Workday payroll module. Natural aptitude for systems and eagerness to learn new tools.
  • Financial acumen: Not scared of debits and credits. Experience (or strong interest) in how payroll impacts the P&L and Balance Sheet.
  • Proactive: Spot errors before they happen and speak up when there's a better way to do things.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications: Considered a plus, such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).

Skills

  • Strong analytical skills to ensure accuracy and efficiency in payroll processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on achieving results.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Knowledge of US multi-state payroll tax withholding regulations.

Pay

This role is based out of our San Francisco office. We are an office-first company and value in-person collaboration; we do not offer remote-only roles.
