Global Investigator
About the role
As a member of the Global Investigations team, you will conduct ad hoc investigations and time-sensitive blockchain analysis for TRM's public and private sector partners, and develop solutions that let TRM scale its investigative capability rapidly and effectively. You'll work alongside experienced blockchain intelligence experts, engineers, and data scientists to deliver cutting-edge support to TRM's clients.
Responsibilities
- Investigate complex cases involving phishing, blockchain exploits, hacks, terrorism finance, account takeovers, scams, money laundering, ransomware, and other illicit use of blockchain technology.
- Produce insightful reports and deliver them in writing and in briefings to TRM's customers.
- Conduct long-term research on key categories of on-chain crime, turning it into intelligence TRM's partners can act on.
- Support sensitive and complex investigations for TRM's public and private sector partners.
- Proactively identify, build, and manage relationships with industry partners to add new sources of attribution to TRM's pipeline at scale.
Requirements
- Practical experience with virtual currencies and blockchain analysis.
- Motivated to learn about new on-chain typologies as they emerge.
- 3-5+ years combined experience as an investigator or analyst, private or public sector.
- Experience briefing senior stakeholders within an organization.
- Able to structure ambiguous problems and prioritize the most critical issues.
- Experience in seizing stablecoins.
- Comfort using AI tools to accelerate research and pattern identification, while retaining ownership of final investigative judgment.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift quickly.
