Global Engagement Advisor

Responsibilities

  • Support the strategic shift from individual advising appointments to a layered, holistic, student-centered approach.
  • Prioritize peer-led group-based engagement with a focus on academic integration.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Directors to coordinate and support global learning and outreach initiatives (on and off campus).
  • Lead engagement programs like Global Talks and International Student Orientation to foster meaningful connections between international students, campus, and the local community.
  • Occasional travel required to partner schools, fairs, and professional conferences.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Global Engagement Program Providers (GEP), offering recruitment support, and troubleshooting assistance for students during the application and onboarding process.
  • Manage daily front-desk operations and oversee the shared office email account, ensuring responsive, student-friendly communication and a welcoming environment.
  • Aid in the development of key marketing materials and brand formatting.
  • Act as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO), issuing Form I-20s and maintaining accurate records in SEVIS.
  • Monitor and interpret federal regulations related to international students and travel, serving as a knowledgeable resource and backup to the Primary DSO.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise Global Engagement Peer Mentors to serve as the first point of contact for all students.
  • Establish tiered referral processes to resolve advanced student cases.
  • Oversee mentor-mentee matching, with a focus on building an inclusive and supportive student community.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and based on departmental needs.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency (required for DSO/ARO eligibility under federal law)
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in international education, advising, student support, or program coordination
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible, adaptable, and resourceful in a dynamic work environment
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work both independently and across departments
  • High attention to detail, excellent time management, & strong organizational skills
  • Experience working with SEVIS
  • Commitment to inclusive, student-centered practices and cross-cultural engagement
  • Preferred Master's Degree in International Education, Higher Education Administration, or related field
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Canva
  • Experience with application management systems such as Terra Dotta or Horizons
