Job Summary
A STS Compensation & Benefits Senior Associate is responsible for executing and assisting with tasks relating to the following:
- Benchmarking and market analysis for executive and employee compensation
- Analyzing data to support short- and long-term incentive plan design
- Developing performance management programs
- Preparation of job descriptions
- Assisting in executive talent planning
- Supporting Board of Directors projects through policy and program research, director compensation, conducting organizational surveys, and identification of company/industry performance trends.
Job Duties
- Researches and identifies situations requiring research, providing an outline of issues and appropriate research sources
- Analyzes researched facts and sources, composing detailed reports of findings
- Reviews SEC filings of public companies, survey data, issue briefs from legal and accounting experts, and best practice guidelines from investor advisory groups as background for providing clients with creative compensation opportunities that promote shareholders' interests
- Maintains compliance with applicable authorities while identifying options for minimizing compensation-related tax and reporting burdens
- Obtains required client information and accomplishes basic tasks, documenting and organizing work product for senior Comp & Ben professionals' review
- Provides creative approaches to compensation opportunities that promote shareholders' interests
- Monitors tax and regulatory actions regarding executive compensation rules and advises clients on compliance strategies
- Assists in the preparation of studies of market practices and tax and regulatory activities to identify alternative courses of action for clients
- Develops an understanding of clients' business objectives as they relate to the development of compensation strategies
- Other duties as required
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervises the day-to-day workload and reviews work of Comp & Ben Associates and Interns on assigned engagements
- Ensures Comp & Ben Associates and Interns are trained on all relevant software
- Aids in the development of Comp & Ben Associates and Interns to enhance professional development
- Delivers periodic performance feedback and completes performance evaluations for Comp & Ben Associates and Interns
Education
- Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources, or other relevant field, required
- Master’s degree in Business Services, Human Resources or other relevant field, preferred
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources, or other relevant field, required
- Master’s degree in Business Services, Human Resources or other relevant field, preferred
- Two (2) or more years of prior work experience in compensation and/or strategic service consulting, required
- Certified Compensation Professional, SHRM certifications, CPA certification or other relevant certification, preferred
- Statistical software packages, preferred
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word, preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Research skills associated with analyzing company performance and industry trends
- Ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levels
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Solid organizational skills
- Ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
- Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment
- Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel
- Ability to encourage team environment on engagements, and contribute to the professional development of assigned personnel
- Moderate knowledge and understanding of legislative process regarding tax policy
