About the role
The Global Compliance Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring our products comply with all relevant regulations and standards and is responsible for managing various compliance-related tasks.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the point of contact for customers regarding regulatory and compliance inquiries, addressing questions or concerns and providing accurate, timely information on product compliance.
- Lead investigations into compliance-related complaints or issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate and oversee the annual certification program for all brands and products, ensuring necessary certifications are obtained and maintained according to industry standards.
- Conduct thorough research on new and updated country-specific regulations to ensure ongoing compliance for products in global markets.
- Work closely with chemists and stakeholders to ensure products meet Brand Specific Restricted Substance Lists (RSL).
- Provide expert guidance to chemists and manufacturing teams on compliance of new chemicals introduced to production, ensuring adherence to applicable regulations and standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
- At least 5 years of regulatory and compliance experience in the chemical industry, preferably in screen-printing inks or related sectors.
- Experience working with regulations such as ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals), REACH, FDA, and TSCA.
- Preferred experience in the textile industry, with exposure to OEKO-TEX, Eco Passport, and/or Bluesign certifications.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of international regulatory frameworks and standards related to chemical substances and materials.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for handling compliance-related investigations and resolutions.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt to changing regulatory environments and implement necessary compliance adjustments.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Requires the use of safety equipment such as safety glasses, shoes, hard hats, face shields, and gloves.
- Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; and explosives.
