About the role
We are seeking a talented individual to join our Global Benefits Management team at Mercer. This role will be based in San Francisco, CA. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Global Benefits Senior Associates and Directors to manage client meetings and serve as a liaison between global client & local brokerage teams.
- Assist global clients with monitoring their insured employee benefit programs around the world by managing and summarizing renewal progress and terms with a view to ensuring a level of governance and consistency with their objectives.
- Develop a strong understanding of global health and welfare benefit products, services, technical tools, and vendor/carrier markets, providing renewal directions to local brokerage teams and managing project timelines, as well as outlining data and reporting expectations within our proprietary Global Benefits Management tools & platforms, developing, peer reviewing, and transmitting client deliverables.
- Manage and execute project deliverables for client implementations, ongoing management, and renewals.
- Track and report project status to brokers, clients, and internal management, including local discussions impacting insurance placement or plan design strategy.
- Serve as a liaison between local brokerage offices and global clients to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
- Cook up and manage activities of consultants worldwide, providing client-ready results and communications for senior consultant review.
- Develop global insured benefits inventories for multinational clients, benchmark comparisons, and provide initial recommendations for senior consultant review.
- Support senior consultants on global benefits design, funding, competitive benefit analysis, and benefits for start-up operations.
- Contribute to overall client strategy development, interpret and present benchmark data, and ensure proper implementation of plan and program changes.
- Manage internal specialty resources to meet client goals and deadlines, delegate and review project work of junior colleagues.
- Aid in peer review processes and deliver clear, concise, client-friendly communications.
- Ensure compliance with professional standards, including use of templates, client calendars, peer reviews, and transparency.
- Liaise with global consultants to draft responses to client questions on benefit issues, delivering client-ready communications after senior consultant review.
Requirements
- Experience with project management and ability to manage multiple deliverables and timelines.
- Excellent client communication and liaison skills, with the ability to coordinate across global teams.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex data and benchmark information.
- Experience working with global benefits inventories is a plus.
- Strong teamwork and leadership skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to compliance and professional standards.
- Proficiency with technical tools and platforms related to global benefits management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint, and working knowledge of the MS Office suite.
Skills
- Experience managing global benefits.
- Strong understanding of global health and welfare benefit products and services.
- Experience or exposure with multinational pooling, captives, or global underwriting.
- Experience working with multinational clients or global HR/Total Rewards teams.
- Fluent in other languages and international experience, highly desired.

Pay
The applicable base salary range for this role is $81,800 to $163,400. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
