GLO - Auditor I (Minerals Auditor)
About the role
The Texas General Land Office is seeking an Auditor I (Minerals Auditor) within the Energy Resources Department. This position performs entry-level to routine (journey-level) auditing work and works under moderate supervision.
Responsibilities
- Performs audits and limited reviews that are entry-level to routine (journey-level) in nature as assigned in compliance with applicable standards and time frames for completion.
- Ensures effective communication with the audited companies, GLO personnel and other relevant parties.
- Researches, reconciles and audits various accounts related to energy resources, including reviews for lease compliance, and reports findings.
- Prepares or assists in preparing audit reports in a timely manner and in compliance with state statutes and internal regulations.
- Records activities through the weekly time tracker and monthly report.
- Affords assistance to companies with their royalty reporting and payments using the on-line Royalty Reporting And Control system (RRAC).
- Develops assignment memorandum and techniques for timely completion of audit work and for ensuring efficient and effective use of time.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Accounting, Business Administration, BBA-Computer Information Systems, Economics, Finance, Geology, Petroleum Engineering, or related degree.
- Testing: The Excel exam will cover essential functions like using pivot tables, building formulas, and performing sorting, filtering and formatting.
- Monthly salary range: $4,583.34 - $5,000.00
- Yearly Salary Range: $55K - $60K
Physical Requirements
- This position requires the employee to primarily perform sedentary office work; however, mobility (moving around the worksite) is routinely required to carry out some duties.
- The job also requires normal cognitive abilities requiring the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies. It requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions.
- The individual must be able to move and transport records, documents, boxes, and all related information and materials, weighing up to 20 pounds when required.
