About the role

The Salvation Army is seeking a part-time Sales Lead at its Pasadena main thrift store. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the Adult Rehabilitation Program while enhancing retail and customer service skills.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one-year previous retail experience and supervisory experience preferred
  • Must pass background check, including criminal history and sex offender registry
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, store employees, customers, and donors

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks and miscellaneous carts
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Takes an active role and partners with the Store Manager in daily store operations
  • Manages opening and closing procedures, point of sale operations, inventory management and rotation, and ARC merchandising standards (CNO Standards)
  • Assumes responsibility for all day-to-day store operations in the absence of the Store and/or Assistant Manager
  • Discusses concerns with District Sales Manager
  • Maintains key performance indicators to drive store sales and increase profitability as projected by budget and goals set by Command Retail Directors and Command Administration
  • Schedules Store Employees to ensure appropriate coverage in store and donation center
  • Coordinates daily morning and shift change team meetings
  • Provides coaching, training, and development to the Store Employees
  • Processes paperwork per Review Standards, especially as it relates to Time and Attendance compliance
  • Ensures high levels of Customer and Donor satisfaction through excellent service to meet their needs while also maintaining good Community relations
  • Develops strategies to improve service to maximize the customer experience
  • Supports Store Manager in Back Room Processing to ensure Back Room Processors/Warehouse Associates work effectively and efficiently to meet daily processing goals
  • Supervises, supports, and reports on program Beneficiaries if or when Work Therapy Assignments are put in place at the store
  • In the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Manager, protects and secures store currency, inventory, and property
  • Affirms that safety measures are established and maintained consistent with ARC policy and governmental regulations, and that safety issues and incidents are reported immediately
  • Aids Store Manager and Assistant Manager with conducting and recording mandatory Weekly Store Meetings
  • Completes all tasks (written or verbal) as assigned by the District Sales Manager, Command Retail Directors, and Command Administration

Work Schedule

Stores operate 7 days per week. Work schedules are determined by Management and associates must be flexible to ensure adequate store coverage. Part-time associates may be scheduled to work any part-time shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
